Looking for an older movie possibly 80's or 90's about orphans?

I remember watching a drama movie about orphans possibly during the 40's.I believe there's an older sister who gets pregnant and i distinctly remember this scene where the little boys paid to see one of the girls vagina and one boy had a smart *** comment and she slapped him across the head, I cant think of what its called for the life of me. Any help is greatly appreciated!
