Can guys straighten their hair?

I'm biracial (black and white), and have long, really curly hair. I recently noticed Halle Berry's hairstyle is short and straight, and she is biracial as well. I was wondering if anyone knew how she got her hair to be straight so short, and what methods/ products she used, because I would like to do the same, only in a manlier style, of course.
