When I type or backspace it sometimes lags for a few moments before registering the changes..why?

It never used to happen. I'm using Chrome as my browser. It happens more frequently these days (probably about 10 times during the course of this post). It does the same thing when I click on stuff sometimes. Buttons won't do their animation when I click them. It is really annoying. Thanks so much for your help.
